CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION & INTERVENTIONS

Nearly one third of Kenyan girls are victims of sexual violence (UNICEF 2012). Of those abused less than 1% never know where to get help, and of the 1% only 10% ever actually received help. Where are the 99% who are abused every year? They suffer in silence. No one will ever know their pain, and their wish.

More children are abandoned because of teenage mothers, family separations, orphans, and poor families unable to provide for their basic needs.

Ripples International works with partners and the communities to prevent abuse from occurring in the first place. We conduct child rights awareness campaigns, education, advocacy and lobbying for policy change and law reforms. Millions have been reached by these initiatives: But we also intervene for children who have already suffered abuse through our temporary rescue shelters: Tumaini Girls rescue Centre and New Start Baby rescue centre.
